Accessible outhouse designs for the backcountry

Hello all,I'm interested in any plans/designs that folks may have for accessible outhouses in the backcountry.  Specifically, one of our partners is looking to replace an aging pit toilet with a new moldering toilet. For background, the site that needs the new outhouse is a remote backcountry tentsite along the Appalachian Trail with no other built facilities except for a couple of native soil tent pads.  The desired design would be consistent with the existing development level of the site so…See More

Thanks for providing the info - I love to see the site working like it's supposed to! Plus it'll undoubtedly be of use to many others.

I'm in the same boat with the paper extension, in part due to getting ready to move to a new job (leaving DC tomorrow!) and also because I just haven't carved the time out of life. I'm headed to the Cleveland NF as a district rec staff. I'll probably take a break and pass on the next course for now, as I think I'll have a steep learning curve and will want to focus for a bit on building a new community.

Congrats on your new job and I'll let you know next time I'm out toward NH!

Welcome to RecLink, Justin! And awesome picture! There's someone asking about climbing management plans on the front page under the forum section. I have this hunch that you might know a thing or two about this, so encourage you to check it out :)

How is everything going? Did you finish up with everything for the wilderness rec course? Are you taking the next one in the series? I hope you are well!
