Megan and Travis - I recently submitted a proposal via TripTac, for a transit system that would link forest rec and local community needs.  Please feel free to hit me up if you want to discuss it or how you might craft one for Sitka.  I used to live in Ketchikan!!!!

Megan and Travis --very exciting progress-- You have a very excellent collaboration going with Sitka community. You might look to reenergize the group to try for an expanded 2011 TRIP grant with transit and service to public lands from town that is totally integrated with Cruise industry and lodging in town and POI's on Forest and Park. I saw some real potential when reviewing the 2010 application. More can be gained by contacting Jenni West at www.triptac.org.

Sitka, Alaska has been moving forward with the Sustainable Recreation and Tourism plan. Alot has been happening since the original Sustainable Outdoor Recreation and Tourism for Sitka case study was posted in the library. This PowerPoint was shown at the public workshop Wednesday, October. 27th mentioned in the previous post by Travis. The public workshop engaged the community and set priority projects to be worked on through a collaborative approach.

Megan and myself were in Sitka, Alaska last week for two days of collaborative outdoor recreation planning meetings sponsored by the Forest Service. This week on RecLink, we'll be posting video interviews with stakeholders, and our thoughts on the process and where it goes from here.
